Kaneez has recently been delivering Cultural Competence and Race training for all of the staff at The Cellar Trust. We wanted training which was grounded in the real experiences of people in the community including the experiences of our own colleagues. We also wanted training which created a safe space for discussion and reflection but was sufficiently hard hitting to stretch people’s thinking and drive positive change in the workplace. Kaneez certainly met that brief. A number of colleagues found it challenging which is exactly what we expected and wanted, and people have commented on how much it has made them reflect. If you want to deliver meaningful training to drive change then this is the right course. In a broader sense, I have known Kaneez for a number of years and would say she has been a significant teacher and peer mentor for me in my learning personally and professionally about race and culture in our communities. In addition to being the CEO of a charity I have had a strategic role working in Bradford and now across West Yorkshire and Kaneez has been a great source of wisdom and challenge when it has come to developing strategies which ultimately has a significant impact on the people who live in our communities. She is an incredibly impactful woman who draws her experience from tough real life experiences and deep conversations with communities.
